Interdisciplinary and Research-Oriented Teaching...
The Human Biology programme offers:
- Training at the highest academic level
Human Biology at the University of Copenhagen is an ambitious programme of study that provides advanced theoretical and experimental training within the fields of molecular biology and the natural sciences with the aim of providing the student with the necessary skills and qualifications to start an independent research career. It is one of the University's select "Copenhagen Master of Excellence Programmes".
|
- Interdisciplinary Study
Our programme is structured so that students are exposed to several disciplines and can connect and integrate different areas of study and scientific approaches.
|
- A fully international programme
The degree programme is taught entirely in English. Our teaching staff are certified to teach in English by the University's Center for Internationalisation and Parallel Language and all books and teaching material are also provided in English.
|
- Focus on research
As a student on the programme, you will develop skills in research methodology and laboratory techniques and have the opportunity to spend the 2nd year of your degree conducting independent research in hospitals, clinical departments or leading biotech firms in Denmark and internationally. A degree in Human Biology from the University of Copenhagen is thus an excellent basis for further PhD biomedical research.
|
- Small teams & flexibility
The relatively small student intake gives you the opportunity to have an influence on course content and help shaping this so that topics of relevance to you are represented. Students also benefit from the opportunity to work in small focused teams.
|
- Internship opportunities
Former students have combined the writing of their thesis project with internships at large pharmaceutical companies such as Novo Nordisk in Medicon Valley, the Danish National hospital Rigshospital and at universities abroad.
|
- Integrated PhD study
At the Faculty, you also have the option of integrating the master's programme with additional PhD work. You can credit the second year of your degree towards a PhD and continue on to achieve the PhD title in 2½ years instead of 3.
